Description

Writing a book on sex education is a vast and complex exercise. And I must point out that I have not said in this book everything that could, or should have been said.
1 have given prominence to the philosophical and ethical aspects of sex education. This has been done not because the physical and psychological aspects of sex education are unimportant, but rather because there is no lack of material in the market on these issues.
The real basis for this writing lies in my participation in the hopes and fears, in the questionings and answerings of so many Christians, men, women, priests, religious, indeed all Men. The issues themselves are so crucial to everyone that they cannot be contained entirely within a single and limited value system. Sex and sex education is not the exclusive domain of Catholics. There is no Catholic sex as distinct from Protestant sex, Hindu sex, Muslim sex, Sikh sex, or any other. There is universal commonality in the area of sexual experience and sexual doctrine. As such, readers of this book of other religious denominations or of no specific religious persuasion at all will find themselves in basic agreement with most of the points of view spelled out in these pages.
As it stands, I should like this book to be used simply as a guide to help teachers, discussion-leaders, parents, and all readers who are concerned with the problems of sex instruction in general, towards a closer understanding of the subject.
