Bishop Thomas Chakiath is auxiliary bishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam. He has a doctorate in sociology from the St. Thomas University, Angelicum, Rome. He has authored many books and scientific articles. Before he became bishop he was a professor for twenty three years in St. Josephs Pontifical Institute, Aluva, Kerala.
