Description

ABOUT THE BOOK
SIN UNDER FIRE

An in depth study of the “climate change” in the theology of sin and guilt. The book gives new dimensions to the meaning of sin in the modern context. Thus we travel from the meaning of sin as commonly understood from the sixth commandment to the existence of sin as explained in the parable of talents.

We need to see serious sin as a fundamental option taken as a person against God, others, self and the nature and not as an independent action originating from an agent. The link and extent of freedom and choice in deciding sin is well analysed in the book. The book describes how venial sins and mortal sins are related and brings in new divisions like serious sins and sins unto death, all taken from the base of freedom of being and freedom of doing.

The book also deals with the pastoral aspects of sin, its gravity and the transitions from grace to sin and vice versa. It describes guilt perceived from the angles of psychologists and theologians and how the dynamic salvation plan centres on hope rather than guilt
