Description

Maid in Hell

The deteriorating economic situation in the villages mainly of the tribal belt of India had led to the migration of many youth particularly young girls and children, to the cities in search of better life prospectus. Going by estimates available, there are over 1 lakh girls in Delhi alone, and it runs in to millions in the national scene, who are working as domestic helpers in different houses.

The domestic workers, for various reasons they have to eke out a lively hood under treacherous conditions. What happens behind the four wall is a great mystery. Many a time there were several attempts to introduce a bill to protect the domestic workers. Finally when the Unorganised Sector workers’ Bill saw light, among the 122 categories mentioned in the said bill, their name (domestic workers) found missing!

This book will reveal the saga of untold sufferings they go through in order to keep their body and soul together.
