About the Book

Dr. Amalan Arockiam has used his academic merit as a scholar of both Indian Civil Law and Roman Rotal Jurisprudence to bring out this book listing the similarities and differences in the two legal systems, a knowledge of which would be useful to the Indian Catholic, who is under the purview of his nation’s and religion’s laws. This book is the first comparative study of the evidence laws in Indian and Canon legal systems.

His Eminence, Francesco Cardinal Coccopalmerio President of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts

“By demonstrating both in ecclesial and civil systems that evidence and proofs are the heart of the procedural system, the book seeks to affirm that in any process of inquiry and investigation, adequate care must be given to the establishment of evidence.”

Most.Rev. Dr.J Susaimanickam

Bishop of Sivagangai

“… it’s no exaggeration to say that the book of Rev. Amalan Arockiam, Doctor in Utroque lure, … the system of evidence in the Canon Law and in the Indian Evidence Act is a critical well-founded study, which starts from the concept used in both legal systems and which have similar meanings , although with some differences and with different historical roots”,

Dr. M.J. Arroba Conde

Legal secretary of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura

“The book is a distilled essence of scholarship and will be of immense help to the members of the legal fraternity, and to all concerned with law and our legal system. This book shall be an important addition to the library of every lawyer, Judge and the court.”

Dr. Justice AR. Lakshmanan
